Tether (USDT) is a stable cryptocurrency with a value meant to mirror the the U.S. dollar. Built on top of open blockchain technologies, Tether is able to leverage the security and transparency they provide. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, every tether is said to be backed in a 1:1 by traditional currency held in reserves. Therefore 1 USDT should always equivalent to 1 USD. In practice, the price tends to fluctuate a little across exchanges though.
